Prof. Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director of Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Dean, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Pune has been conferred with the honour of Jean Monnet Chair on EU Climate Justice Law, Governance, Management and Policy (EUC-LAMP)(Co-funded by the EU).

Several major developments have taken place in India to center stage the need for combating climate change-related adversities. Recognizing the importance of climate change and its impact in various aspects like food security, energy security, water security, health, migration and conflict, the Jean Monnet Chair EUC-LAMP, Jean Monnet Chair is organizing a special track (JM Research Conference) with the prestigious SYMROLIC conference of the Symbiosis International University.

This special track will provide a platform for discussion of long-term mitigation and adaptation measures to resolve the inequities. Academicians and practitioners from relevant areas in Climate Change Policy and Law and other multidisciplinary areas are invited collaborate,exchange ideas, and explore solutions for the sustainability challenges that the world is facing.There will be no registration fees for the authors selected to present in this track. The research papers presented at this track which meet the expected quality standards will be published in SCOPUS indexed journals / globally reputed edited book as chapters.

The JM Research Conference, in the form of special track in SYMROLIC Conference 2024 will provide an added impetus to the core focus area of Climate Change Justice and promote the available EU innovative practices carried out in India. It will be a forum to present cutting edge research trends by early-stage researchers, Masters and Doctoral students to address the policy gaps for the pressing area of climate change justice and its importance in society. This Conference will also be a means to promote the core focus areas of the Jean Monnet Actions, act as a means of networking between students, advocacy groups and civil society to help build momentum towards policy reform in the area of Climate Change.
